These are the General Rental Requirements of Leisure Car Rental St. Maarten
Utilization of the Vehicle
The vehicle, being the object of the rental, must be personally driven by the renter as stated on the Rental Agreement. The minimum age to rent a vehicle in St. Maarten is 18 years, surcharge, or other rates may apply for any potential renter under the age of 18 years with a valid Driver’s License.
It is forbidden to overload the vehicle with more passengers than allowed for said vehicle.
It is strictly forbidden to take part in any race or competition or to drive in a state of drunkenness or under the influence of alcohol, or illegal drugs.
A rental day is 24 hours starting at the time of the rental. The minimum charge is one day. The renter will be charged for each hour and/or any part of an hour in excess of a rental day the renter keeps the vehicle, until the vehicle is returned, up to the applicable daily rate.
The vehicle may be driven only by an authorized driver. An authorized driver is the renter and any additional person who appears at the time of rental, and is listed on the Rental Agreement. All authorized drivers must satisfy our age requirements. No other persons are authorized to drive the vehicle.
Upon rental, a valid credit card must be presented. To ensure validity, an Authorization will be made on said card.
Condition of the Car
The renter agrees that the vehicle is in proper working order, and that he/she must drive in a proper manner and return it in the same condition except in the case of mechanical failure and/or normal wear which must be immediately reported to Leisure Car Rental.The renter must refill the gas tank to the same level it was upon renting. There is no credit or refund given for any fuel in the tank at the end of the rental. The fuel charge is based on the estimated number of gallons needed to refill the tank multiplied by the rate per gallon charge specified on the rental agreement. Leisure Car Rental may use different methods of estimating the number of gallons needed to refill the tank and these methods of estimation necessarily rely on fair human judgment.
Deposits and Prolongation
Tariffs are fixed, and will be paid at the end of the rental period. A cash rental requires a security deposit of US$750- (Seven Hundred and fifty United States Dollars) which is compulsory, and will be returned at the end of the rental after compliance of all obligations of the renter. The deposit is valid for the length of the rental, and cannot serve as unilateral prolongation of said rental. Rentals by Credit Card will not be charged this amount of deposit. A signed slip will serve as the deposit in this case, and will be returned at the end of the rental.
All other renters must present at the time of rental a major credit card or debit card in the renter's own name with available credit. A hold will be placed on the renter's credit card for the estimated amount of the rental, average US$750- during the winter season, or average $350- all other seasons.. The hold will be removed at the end of the rental when the final charges are settled.
A rental by credit card requires no cash deposit.
Responsibility
The renter remains personally responsible for all contraventions, misdemeanor offense, fines etc incurred during his/her driving of the vehicle. Under no circumstances could Leisure Car Rental be charged or investigated for such matters. Leisure Car Rental is not responsible for any items of clothing and/or articles etc carried or left in the vehicle during or after the rental period.
Insurance
Only the authorized driver(s) will be covered by insurance as described below:
-Damage of the vehicle with a deductible of US$750- for the account of the renter for each and every loss/theft or damage, if Collision Damage Waiver Insurance is accepted.
-Accidental Damages caused to third Parties for each and every loss or damage, if Liability Insurance is purchased.
- The insurances are valid for the duration of the rental mentioned on the Rental Agreement.
-In the event that no insurance coverage is purchased, the renter is fully responsible for liability, stolen or lost parts, accident, damage, vandalism, broken glass antennas etc, towing and storage, loss of use, diminution of value, and any Acts of God. Should the renter have insurance coverage elsewhere, Leisure Car Rental will provide any and all assistance necessary for the renter to be reimbursed by his/her insurance company.
Other General Conditions
It is prohibited to lend, or lease the vehicle. The renter must notify Leisure Car Rental when, and where, the vehicle will be returned.
All violations of the Rental Agreement will engage the responsibility of the renter, and of the deposit made, without prejudice to all other rights, means, and actions, which the owner may bring against him.
During the rental period, all material damages that occurred to the vehicle, any loss of objects even in the presence of the renter remains at the expense of the renter, and at no time can Leisure Car Rental be held responsible. Top..
